This is the Supplemental Privacy Policy for the Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate Program ("Program"), which is provided by AbbVie Proprietary Products, a division of AbbVie Inc. (“AbbVie”). Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate Program is designed to connect individuals with a personal Patient Advocate. The Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate registration page allows you to upload personal information to the CrohnsAndColitis website and send us information, including health information, when you register for the Program.

In addition to this Supplemental Privacy Policy, our collection of information about you through the Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate Program, and our use of that information, is subject to AbbVie's Privacy Policy, which you can review by clicking here. This Supplemental Privacy Policy provides information about our data handling practices that are specific to this Program, and the terms of this Supplemental Privacy Policy are in addition to any terms appearing in the Privacy Policy.

How does AbbVie collect information about you?

When AbbVie collects information from the CrohnsAndColitis website and related websites, we automatically gather certain non-personally identifiable information about your computer and your use of the CrohnsAndColitis website using various technologies, such as cookies and web beacons. When you register for the Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate Program, we will ask you to provide certain personal information that identifies you (such as your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, and health information).

How do we protect the information we store?

Personal information collected when you register for the Program is retained on servers in the U.S. Where AbbVie is responsible for storing the information you provide to us, then AbbVie will handle such information in accordance with AbbVie’s policies and applicable law. Please note that no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy.

If you wish to edit your information, please contact your Patient Advocate who can then access and edit your requested information on your patient registration data and/or your patient profile data.

How do we use data?


We may use and consolidate the personal information that we collect about you through the CrohnsAndColitis website to respond to your questions and to provide you with efficient customer service.


Any health information (such as diagnosis and types of treating physicians) that you provide to us will be used by your Patient Advocate to better understand what educational resources are needed.

If you consented to our sending you communications regarding Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis awareness, then we may send you such information by post, email, SMS or telephone.

How long will AbbVie store my personal information and health information?

In general, AbbVie will only store your personal information and health information for as long as it is needed to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, subject to applicable data retention periods imposed upon AbbVie by applicable law.

How do we share personal information that we collect about you?

We may share personal information that we collect about you through the Program within AbbVie. If you separately opted into other AbbVie websites, you may receive communications from those additional programs and in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at

We will not share information that we collect through the Program with any third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes.

What rights and choices do I have over my personal information?

If you want to opt out of receiving Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis awareness materials from us, you can use the “opt-out” procedure listed at the bottom of any such disease awareness message that we send to you.

You also can email us at with the words “Deletion Request” in the subject line or write to us at the address provided in our Privacy Policy. Any email you send should indicate the email address that you used to register for the Program, the email address to which your request relates (if different), and a statement that you wish to opt out of communications relating to the Crohn's & Colitis Patient Advocate Program. (Please note that, even if you opt out, we still may send you certain administrative communications, such as legal and account notices.)

You may request to remove, amend or correct your personal information by email to the same address or by writing to us at the address provided in our Privacy Policy.

Will these privacy practices change?

We occasionally may change these privacy practices, so you should review this Supplemental Privacy Policy, and our Privacy Policy, periodically.
